Two of the biggest indie gems to come out of Australia and New Zealand, Unpacking and Dredge, have just been added to the roster of games on Apple Arcade, Apple’s mobile gaming subscription service.
Although both games have undergone optimisation for mobile platforms, Dredge’s move to mobile is particularly impressive.
Dredge+ is the complete version of the game, including all of the game’s downloadable content, including The Pale Reach and The Iron Rig.
When Dredge released on PC and consoles, we scored it 9.0 out of 10, stating: “To use fishing terms, Dredge isn’t one you’d kiss and throw back. It’s the definition of a trophy catch. Its series of elegantly simple systems interplay nicely, blending seamlessly with an eerily stunning eldritch style and a moreish checklist of sea life to catch.”
Unpacking+, which itself won a Cultural Impact Award as part of Apple’s App Store Awards, is perhaps even better suited to the shorter nature of mobile play sessions, with its easy, digestible slice-of-life levels.
It was announced a couple of years ago that Dredge would be getting a film adaptation. However, news has been sparse on Story Kitchen’s adaptation since its announcement.
