As published by Entertainment Weekly, we’ve got our first look at the upcoming Golden Axe animated series, based on the SEGA franchise of the same name, that’s set to premiere on Paramount+ next month.
The show is spearheaded by Mike McMahan, known for his work on Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Joe Chandler, who has previously worked on American Dad.
The series stars Aussie’s own Liam McIntyre, Matthew Rhys, and Lisa Gilroy as the original game’s trio of Ax Battler, Gilius Thunderhead, and Tyrus Flare.
The series appears to be a comedic satire on the fantasy genre at large, and it includes several instances of meta-humour, as seen in the trailer.
Golden Axe premieres on Paramount+ on September 16.
