The first post-launch Nintendo Switch 2 system update has arrived. It’s skipping ahead to version 20.1.5 and as you can guess, it adds stability.
It is a bit unusual for Nintendo to jump versions, but maybe there’s been that many stability fixes that they’re hot fixing as they go and have jumped ahead to the latest version rather than dropping lots of little ones.
Whilst normally Nintendo releasing updates that improve stability is a bit of a meme, there has been quite a few numbers of glitches/bugs that people have been experiencing with the Nintendo Switch 2 that never existed with the original.
For instance, I’ve had a few hard lock-ups whilst just browsing menus that have required a full restart (I don’t think I ever experienced a single one on the Nintendo Switch), so no doubt Nintendo will be looking to improve this and hopefully this update does just that.
It’s unlikely that we’ll get any solid answers on what this improves (unless Nintendo post more information) but hopefully we see less and less glitches with the console as a result of this update.
