UPDATE: Last month Nintendo dropped a new trailer for Nintendo 64 features on Nintendo Switch Online, and in the background were the lesser known Forsaken alongside Super Smash Bros and Donkey Kong 64, which led people to believe these three games were on the way.
This has now seemingly been confirmed as Nintendo just announced the next game to drop on Nintendo Switch Online for Nintendo 64 and it is indeed Forsaken. The game will be dropping tomorrow.
I’ve personally never heard of the game, but here’s how Nintendo describes it:
You are a ruthless mercenary, sent to the condemned remains of Earth as part of a covert operation codenamed “Forsaken.” Your mission is to infiltrate and destroy the last bastions of the mechanized terror that wiped out all life on the planet. Earth is a death trap riddled with merciless mechanoid adversaries and gangs of rival bounty hunters, and you’ll have to brave them all astride your anti-grav pioncycle to make your fortune…or meet your doom. Choose between different modes in this first-person shooter title released for the Nintendo 64™ system in 1998, and enter the fight in Single Player Mode or Multi-Player Mode. Then, select your bike. Each bike has different attributes, each biker a different attitude. Pick one that suits your style, then dive into your mission. The availability of weapons, enemies, and powerups changes depending on the level you play, so stay sharp!
ORIGINAL STORY: Nintendo has fairly consistently dropped games on its Nintendo Switch Online platform across all of the consoles, but on each console there’s some classic games missing, but for the Nintendo 64 specifically, it looks like two of the biggest games are coming at some point.
Around the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, Nintendo dropped a trailer with new features coming to Nintendo Switch Online classics, and in the background were 64 boxes blurred out revealing a number of games that are seemingly coming to the platform.
If this video is indicative of what’s coming to the platform, Super Smash Bros, Donkey Kong 64 and Forsaken will all be coming to Nintendo Switch Online.
This was discovered by Reddit user Amiibofan101 and delved into by GameXPlain (who found the other games).
It’s really hard to know when these games will come. Donkey Kong 64 in particular seems a little bit odd to drop around the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza although there are some great references in that game, so maybe it’s the perfect time to drop it.
Similarly, people never thought Super Smash Bros would come to Nintendo Switch Online, but now does feel like a good time to drop it, given we’re probably a good amount of time away from the launch of a new game.
