As reported by IGN, EA has announced that, in an effort to aid a “realignment” within the company, an unspecified number of staff have been laid off across Battlefield Studios, comprised of Criterion, Dice, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios.
This news comes despite a tremendously successful launch for the most recent title in the franchise, Battlefield 6, which sold through 7 million copies in just three days and saw enormous numbers of concurrent users on Steam.
It’s worth noting, of course, that these numbers have been on a decline since launch. Battlefield 6’s all-time peak concurrents five months ago neared 750,000, while its most recent 24-hour peak is just 50,000.
“We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community,” an EA spokesperson told IGN.
“Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.”
