Telstra Game Optimiser Will Give You More Control Over Your Online Gaming Experience

Just a day after launching the ‘X Marks The Spot’ competition, Telstra has announced another gaming initiative in Game Optimiser, which will go into beta on September 22nd and leave beta on November 9th. Anybody who is on a Telstra NBN broadband service with an eligible Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 (check eligibility here) will be eligible to use the service. At the conclusion if the beta, users will get one month free and then it’ll become $10 a month.

Built on the DumaOS software (which is used in the Netgear Nighthawk range), Game Optimiser will let you do things like manually connect to the closest gaming servers, prioritise bandwidth to certain devices in the house (your PS4/Xbox for instance) and check which devices are eating up bandwidth.

You can find out more information about Game Optimiser and see if you’re available to sign up for the beta HERE.

TELSTRA GAME OPTIMISER FEATURES

  • Combat network congestion by prioritising gaming traffic and their gaming device over other internet-connected devices and internet traffic in the house (e.g. video streaming)
  • Reduce jittering/lagging by making sure their gaming device gets more bandwidth allocation
  • Improve multiplayer performance to handpick the closest servers to improve latencies
  • Break down the live home network usage to spot bandwidth-hogging programs and devices

EDITOR’S NOTE: An earlier version of this article stated that Game Optimiser would be $30 a month.
