CD Projekt Red has announced that they will take development of The Witcher 3’s PS5/Xbox Series X release in-house, which means that it will be delayed from its Q2 release date to a date that has not yet been confirmed. The next-gen version was originally being developed by Saber Interactive who recently developed the Nintendo Switch version.
Given the statement, which says that they are evaluating the scope of the work that needs to be done, we’d expect that it will be some months before we hear an update on the next-gen release.
The statement reads:
We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.
We’ll update you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding.
