During this morning’s Opening Night Live, Gearbox officially revealed New Tales from the Borderlands, their spiritual successor to the Telltale Games developed series set within the Borderland universe. This follows details of the game leaking earlier in the week.
Rather than sourcing an external developer as they did in the past, Gearbox Quebec is leading the development of New Tales from the Borderlands, with development commencing on the game after the development for Borderlands 3 wrapped. It’s worth noting, however, that Gearbox Software has partnered with key players from the old Telltale narrative team.
All of New Tales from the Borderlands five episodes will be available from launch, which is a relief given we grew accustomed to long, drawn-out seasons during Telltale’s reign over the adventure genre.
Some key features of New Tales from the Borderlands include:
Pre-order to get the Adventure Capital Pack, featuring cosmetics for Anu, Octavio, and Fran, 10,000 in-game currency, and an in-game FL4K Vaultlander collectible! The game is releasing in two editions, including digital bonus content, allowing players to select the option that’s right for them:
New Tales from the Borderlands is releasing this year on October 21 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
