Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Apparently Only Has 70MB Of Data On The Disc

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases tomorrow and the first discs have started arriving with gamers, and after a pretty shocking discovery, it seems as though from multiple reports that the disc only has about 70MB data on it, with 130GB of additional data to be downloaded to play.

Now, this probably isn’t the biggest deal given that Call Of Duty obviously takes place primarily online, but the game has a campaign and obviously parts of the multiplayer that are launching alongside of it, so it just feels weird to even ship a disc with next to nothing on the disc.

The discovery was initially made by Does It Play, a Twitter account dedicated to ensuring games can play without internet connection (and for preservation purposes). It has now been backed up by popular COD site ChalieIntel. The cover of the game does indicate that a content download is required and that obviously the internet is required to play.

Friend of the site Lance McDonald had the below to say: “People keep reacting to this with stupid takes like “all game discs these days are just a license key with mandatory downloads. Games haven’t shipped on disc for years lol get with the times” which isn’t true at all. 99.999% of retail games are perfectly playable from disc in 2022”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is out on October 28th. The cheapest price is currently $78 from Amazon.
