PlayStation and First Contact Entertainment have revealed the release date for Firewall Ultra, the upcoming PlayStation VR2-exclusive sequel to one of the original PS VR’s most celebrated shooters, Firewall: Zero Hour.
Launching on August 24th, 2023, Firewall Ultra is set to up the ante for fans of the previous game’s realistic multiplayer military shooting action, swapping the Aim Controller for the PS VR2’s excellent Sense Controllers and utilising the new headset’s unique features for even deeper immersion.
Alongside the date announcement, First Contact also provided a debut gameplay trailer that showcases some of these unique features, like eye tracking that can help players avoid the effects of flashbang grenades by simply closing their eyes, or headset haptic feedback when toggling visors or taking damage.
Firewall Ultra will offer players a new immersive Safehouse social lobby between sessions as well as dedicated servers and a thre round-based PvP format. The studio also says it has big plans for post-launch support including new weapons and playable “contractors”, new maps, modes and more.
