A New Big PS5 Digital Game Online Check Has Been Discovered But The Reason Has Been Seemingly Confirmed

It was last week discovered that any new digital PS5/PS4 games purchased now come with a 30 day validity that requires an online check in order to play it (on both the primary and secondary accounts) every 30 days, which reasonable sparked concern.

After a bunch of research from Aussie Lance McDonald, Doesitplay and a bunch of other online forumers, the reason now seems to be confirmed, and whilst there does seem to be a new 30 day online check in place, it’s a one time check and it’s to combat piracy.

It’s said that this check is being put in place to combat an exploit where people may have been taking advantage of the 14 day PSN refund window in order to then pirate that game or use it indefinitely, where this new check basically means there is a one time check outside of that window that once cleared will let you use the game forever (whilst on a primary account) without any further online checks.

PlayStation has yet to comment on this, and it’s literally been down to community investigation to find out the reason why this is happening, but that seems to be the current consensus which we’ll have to roll with until PlayStation make an official comment.

In the meantime if this is something you’re interested in following I’d recommend following this thread here.
