It’s been announced that Dave Bautista is the new Kratos in Prime Video’s God Of War, with two seasons set to be shot back to back.
The change comes after Ryan Hurst suffered a torn bicep on set, which forced production to re-cast the role instead of waiting well into 2027 to start re-shooting.
The production will now resume shooting in the coming weeks in Vancouver, with the series following the God Of War game in with Kratos raises his son Atreus alone. Callum Vinson is still set to play Atreus with additional cast members including Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as as brothers Brok and Sindri.
Dave Bautista definitely fits the role of Kratos from a physicality point of view, so it’ll be interesting to see how he plays the character, and it’s definitely a tough run for Ryan Hurst who would have been great in the role.
