Samsung has announced that it is releasing three new foldables this year including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Flip and the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 which has a new form-factor.
This is the one we’ve been waiting for. It’s a shorter foldable with a 7.6 inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer display that offers 3 aspect ratios, 4:3 landscape which is great for watching videos, 3:4 portrait which basically makes it a mini e-readers and a 10:16 cover display which is shorter and perfect for quickly viewing socials or scrolling your phone. The displays offer 3000 nits of peak brightness and have an anti reflect coating on the outside as well.
The Fold 8 weighs just 201 grams making it the lightest fold on offer and as far as cameras go, it has 50 mp ultra wide and wide cameras with a 2x optical quality zoom and 10mp cover and main cameras as well. It has a the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip and a 4,800mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is even thinner this year coming in at just 4.1mm in thickness (barely bigger than the USB-C port) and it also requires less pressure to open and close it. It has a 200mp main camera which is the same as the S26 Ultra as well as a 50mp ultrawide lens for the first time and 10mp 3x optical zoom.
It has a 3000 nits display which has an anti reflective coating, as well as a higher 422 DPI display, and there’s a new flex titanium display that includes an OLED panel and a titanium plate. It has a 5,000mAh battery with magnet charging as well as 45w super fast charging and 20w wireless charging and it comes with that same Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset with new ambient nudges that react in real time based on what you’re doing on the phone.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is 13% thinner and 3.9% lighter coming in at just 180 grams. It has the same cameras but it has a redesigned home window that allows for app access from the front screen. There’s not a heap of other changes on the Z Flip 8 side.

The other big new additions to the line-up are two new features. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 specifically is hugely improved with a 35% battery, the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset that results in improved response times, a larger 1.52-inch display that offers 5,000 nits of peak brightness and it’s also more durable, 12% thinner and 25% lighter with new trail run and diving features as well as new vitals and fitness indexes.
On the Watch 9 side it’s also 25% lighter, has a 20% bigger battery, a brighter 3,000 nits display and that same Snapdragon Wear Elite processor to make it much faster.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 are out on August 14th and starts at $1,299 AUD and $649 respectively with pre-orders available now.
