Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb Is Leaving Microsoft After 22 Years

Major bummer.

Larry Hryb, a Senior Director of Communications at Microsoft and well-known face among the Xbox community otherwise known as Major Nelson, has announced that he’s stepping away from the company after more than 22 years.

Hryb made the announcement in a series of tweets, saying:

“After 20 incredible years, I have decided to take a step back and work on the next chapter of my career. As I take a moment and think about all we have done together, I want to thank the millions of gamers around the world who have included me as part of their lives.

“Also, thanks to Xbox team members for trusting me to have a direct dialogue with our customers. The future is bright for Xbox and as a gamer, I am excited to see the evolution.

“Thank and I’ll see you online.”

Hryb also confirmed that the official Xbox Podcast, something he’s been a huge part of to date, will take a hiatus over the coming months and “come back in a new format.”

Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb visited our shores last year as part of an appearance at the Melbourn watch party for the 2022 Xbox Games Showcase at Fortress, and also did a series of meet and greets at EB Games stores along the way.
