Xbox and Meta have dropped an exciting new feature for users of the Meta Quest VR headsets with the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta now available through the Quest 2, Quest Pro, and Quest 3.
All that Quest owners need to get started is a compatible controller, like the official Xbox Wireless Controller with Bluetooth support, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to start playing Xbox games via the cloud, inside their virtual space. On the newer Quest 3 or Quest Pro, you can view the games on a simulated screen within your real-world environment, or within an Xbox-themed virtual space, while on the Quest 2 it’s just the latter option.
Of course, like using Xbox Cloud Gaming on any other device you’ll also need a reliable, high-speed internet connection to get the best experience playing games like Forza Motorsport, Starfield and more on your Quest.
Here’s how it all works, via the Xbox Wire blog:
Getting started is easy. Simply download the Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) app from the Meta Quest Store and then follow the tutorial to pair it with your supported controller. Meta Quest can work with a variety of devices, including Xbox Wireless controllers with Bluetooth support. Once paired, log in to your Microsoft account with an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to start gaming! If you don’t have a membership, sign up for a trial today.
From within the app, you can browse and play hundreds of games from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library. You can choose from four different display sizes and either immerse yourself in an Xbox-themed virtual space or enjoy a view of your physical surroundings with Quest 3 or Pro’s stereoscopic full-color Passthrough.
