During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, Ubisoft announced a new entry in the Rainbow Six franchise – Rainbow Six Tactics.
A completely new, single-player-focused entry, Rainbow Six Tactics is a turn-based title that brings the high-stakes tactical elements of the franchise into a whole new experience.
Not only does Rainbow Six Tactics feature 15 Operators we all know and love from the series, but it also utilises the gameplay DNA of the franchise. The ability to pre-plan and even drone out the map before engaging brings the signature Rainbow Six Siege-style gameplay to a turn-based experience that fits the tactical nature of the series. Signature gadgets will also make an appearance as you plan, coordinate and attack, where every decision matters.
The Breach featured during the announcement showcases another layer of tactical gameplay that has been a core part of Rainbow Six Siege, allowing players to break down walls and clear paths to gain an advantage, once again providing the signature gameplay the franchise is known for.
As you step into the boots of a Rainbow Six commander, you’ll be responsible for managing various aspects of the Rainbow Six unit, from managing HQ by upgrading facilities and gathering intelligence to assigning Operators for the next mission.
With a somewhat noticeable gap in the turn-based strategy genre, seeing a franchise like Rainbow Six enter the fray with its own DNA really fits the nature of turn-based strategy. Rainbow Six and tactical fans will feel right at home with this one.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
