Xbox has announced its rumours disc to digital program. This will allow Xbox discs to be able to turned digital licenses that can be used with Xbox Play Anywhere (to be played on your PC) and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
This will work by turning your disc into a digital license that is tied to your console, and you will no longer need to use the disc. Once this disc is used with another console the license will then be transferred to that console.
This will roll out to XBOX Insiders on August 31st, and will be available across 1000s of games on Xbox Series X and Xbox One with more games to be added as time goes on. You find more info HERE.
No doubt this is in anticipation of the next Xbox console which will likely not have a disc drive, and it’s great to see Xbox have a way for those gamers to get their physical collection onto a digital library without losing them as we look to transition to this next gen.
