After originally being refused classification in Australia, it’s been revealed to us, that after a review by the Australian Classification Board, Outlast 2 will now release in Australia.

The game will release on April 26th and will now be rated R18+. The scene in question, that implications of sexual violence, will be included in the Australia version of the game.

In a statement provided to Press Start, Red Barrels confirmed that there will only be one version of the game worldwide:

“Outlast 2 has been rated R18+ by the Classification Branch in Australia and will be released 26th April 2017. There will be only one version of Outlast 2 available worldwide.”

I don’t think that we did it as you put it. If you look into that screen above on the 4th line it says “Version: Modified”. So I think the game is now censored worldwide and we are all screwed on this one.

HOLD YOUR HORSES, when you say only one version in the world, do you mean a censored version for the world or the full uncensored version? I somehow doubt the Australian censorship board had a sudden epiphany on the fact that a modern and free society should never censor anything but let everyone choose what they want to see.

  • Australia – the NANNY country. Where you are told what to think and jailed if you have a differing opinion under 18c. Apparently only children play games in Australia so all games must be censored.
