In a post published on PlayStation’s blog overnight, it’s been confirmed that their adorable platformer Sackboy: A Big Adventure, unfortunately, won’t support online multiplayer at launch, although it will be coming before the year’s end.
“We’ve made the difficult decision to delay the full online multiplayer functionality within Sackboy: A Big Adventure,” said developer Sumo Digital. “The team have been working hard to ensure that online is the very best experience it can be for players and we just need a little more time to get it right so you can enjoy it to the fullest with your friends and family.”
The online co-op functionality will arrive before the “end of 2020” in the form of a patch which they confirm will also include support for cross-generational multiplayer as well as being able to transfer saves up from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.
Of course, the game won’t be without multiplayer entirely at launch, it’ll still support 2-4 player couch co-op.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure releases for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 12, 2020. Head to our PlayStation 5 hub for all of our launch coverage by clicking here.
