We knew that tech was about to start jumping in price in a big way, and the first casualty has arrived in the ROG Xbox Ally X which just got a $200 price increase in Australia.
The standard ROG Xbox Ally is still priced at $999 with the ROG Xbox Ally X jumping from $1,599 AUD to $1,799 AUD suggesting that the faster, higher specced ram is likely the reason for the price increase, which makes sense given the price of memory sky rocketing due to AI data centres.
In addition to the $200 price increase, the ROG Xbox Ally X is now available at more retailers. It was previously exclusive to JB Hi-Fi and the ASUS store, but it’s now available at the likes of EB Games, Mwave, and Amazon.
This absolutely won’t be the last piece of tech that we see impacted by the memory and storage shortages that are about to plague the tech industry, so if there’s something you’ve had your eye on, now might be a really good time to look into buying it.
In my ROG Xbox Ally X review, I said: “The ROG Xbox Ally X is an extremely solid Windows handheld that not only shows the future potential for these handhelds but also the wider potential for the ecosystem that Xbox has been building for some time.”
