In an interesting and tech-heavy rundown, Bethesda gave us a look at how their new streaming technology, Orion, will work.
Using the cloud, the technology is compatible with any game engine, such as Stadia and xCloud, making it possible to stream 20% faster per frame, leading to a vast reduction in latency, while using 40% less bandwidth. This reduces the cost of streaming for both players and those behind publishing the games.
In an attempt to show-off the technology running live for an audience, a gamer emerged from backstage streaming Doom (2016) at 60 frames per second on a mobile device. It was running smooth and looked rather impressive.
