With the recent and glorious news of Majora’s Mask making it’s resurgence on the 3DS, I got to thinking what other Zelda games would benefit from the remake treatment. I think that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess would be a fantastic candidate a HD remake on the Wii U.
Considered to be one of the most outstanding games of the franchise, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is coming up to nearly a decade in age. Scoring perfect to near perfect scores across the board from all the reputable gaming outlets at the time and being the first Zelda game to be a launch title for a console, in this case the Wii.
At the time, two versions were released and developed parallel to one another. The game was simultaneously releasing with motion controls for the Wii and also developed with traditional controls for the GameCube.
I do majority of my gaming later in the evening/night so needless to say after a solid day working and any other activities I choose to participate in, the last thing I feel like doing is waving my arms around like I am signalling an airplane to land.
I am fully aware that Twilight Princess is available on GameCube but never being a GameCube owner until recently and as you can imagine copies of this game are going for outrageously high amounts even for a collectors standards, around the AU$100 mark. Dearer than most recently released games. I pose the question. Why not give gamers an updated version of this game?
Using for example Twilight Princess’ predecessor The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Releasing years before Twilight Princess on the GameCube, The Wind Waker was fortunate enough to receive a High Definition make over for the Wii U almost 12 months ago and was received with probably just as much critical acclaim as the original’s launch. It received nothing more than a visual overhaul causing the cell-shaded visuals to pop even more vividly and a few game play tweaks to streamline the experience for the Wii U.
Need I say more to convince you of the opportunity for experiencing Twilight Princess on the Wii U? An overhaul of the darker toned world would work wonders, the option to tackle the game from a more traditional game pad or controller and then stream lining the experience to match the Wii U. It could be something as simple as having the item select menu on the Wii U’s game pad or speeding up Links running speed or even Epona’s as well. It would all add up to generate a marvellous experience.
2016 marks the 30th anniversary of Zelda. We completely expect Nintendo to take advantage of this and absolutely make the whole year about Zelda. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate this glorious year than to bring Twilight Princess into the HD age and shine a light on this absolute classic.
What are your thoughts? Is this a game you would love to see a remake of or something different entirely, please let us know in the comments below.

it just didn't have the same pull as four swords, WW and OoT.
I'm one of the few that wasn't too big of a fan of LoZ:TP. I remember staying up all night playing it on GameCube release day.
As an even further update. I am one hour and 50 minutes into Skyward Sword and already hating the motion controls.
Great call out and agree totally. I'd say the same about Mario Galaxy but they decided to do a simple digital port instead.
Thank you :) For an update I ended up grabbing a Gamecube version and finally finishing Twilight Princess and I believe it more than ever that this game should be next on the remake list. Thanks for reading!
I don't think it needs one yet but I definitely wouldn't be upset about getting one haha
Im going to assume you are comfortable using the Wii's Motion controllers?
