The Public Beta for Apple’s upcoming 2026 software updates came out the other day, so I threw it on my old iPad to check it out. I found a neat game-specific feature that I haven’t seen many people talk about.
I’ve got a library of games on iOS going back at least 14 years at this point. The App Store as it currently is makes it really hard to see all the games you’ve bought over time. The new Games app on iOS, iPadOS 26 and Tahoe 26 solves that problem.
The Games app almost seems redundant at first glance. It’s an app where you can install and find new games on the App Store. I can do that in the Games tab of the App Store already, can’t I? Well, yes – but it’s more than that.
At the moment games are mixed in with all the social apps, utilities and other random junk you’ve ever grabbed from the store. By separating out games into their own view, it’s way easier to look at your entire games library.

Much like your Steam or PlayStation accounts, you can see a list of all the games you’ve ever added to your account and download them to your current device. You can filter them down to ones with controller support and sort them how you choose. A small feature but miles better than a giant list of random apps! A quick scroll down this list uncovered some absolute gems I totally forgot I even had.
As well as the new library view, the Games app is now where all your achievements, in game events and friends list live. Way better than having to dig through Settings.
It’s not all working perfectly at the moment – some games are just not gonna work on current devices because they haven’t been updated in too long. These ones still appear in the Library but the system just does nothing when you try to install them. Hopefully in the full release you can smartly filter out games that won’t work on your current device.

Regardless, as someone with a giant mobile games library going back years and years, I think this is an awesome new addition for mobile players and hopefully will help you rediscover gems from the past you forgot about.
Apple’s iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS software updates are currently in public beta and are expected to release in September of this year.
