Melbourne Based Studio Mighty Games Is Creating A Game To Fight Homophobia

The Victorian Labor Government is working with Melbourne Based Mighty Games (responsible for games such as Shooty Skies and Disney Crossy Roads) to build a new digital gaming app that will give players insight into the experiences of LGBTI people and the prejudices and discriminations that they face.

This fun and immersive free app is being built by a new team called ‘Mighty Serious’ and will release in late 2018. It will help people build understanding and modify behaviour and perspectives towards the LGBTI community. The studio has partnered with the Victorian AIDS Council as well as Victorian University to ensure that the content is appropriate and educational.

This game is apart of Labor’s initiative to combat Homophobia. The Minister for Creative Industries and Minister for Equality Martin Foley said:

“Creativity can play a powerful role in promoting understanding, and this project is one of the ways we are working to bring about positive social change for the LGBTI community and for all Victorians.”

“We look forward to working with Mighty and the project partners to create a game which will be available to people across the state, the nation and the globe.”

  • They're creating a game to fight the fear of things that are the same? Because that's what homophobia means: Homo is not exclusive to sexuality!!!!!

Just because people still hang on the ancient belief that male and female relationships are natural (and that fact that 90% of the world's population is heterosexual) confirms that belief, doesn't mean they suffer from some bigoted phobia. The human male is designed to mate with a human female. Anyone who disagrees with this needs to go read a book on human anatomy and biology. Males shouldn't be having sex with other males. How about making a game to fight something that is normal, how about putting money into research to find a cure to homosexuality.

That's exactly what it means. There's a game in development that might help you deal with these feelings. Mighty Games is making it. There's an article about it here: https://press-start.com.au/news/2017/10/03/melbourne-based-studio-mighty-games-creating-game-fight-homophobia/

      • I came to here read articles about gaming news; to escape the political shit storm thats being shoved down everyones kneck atm. Please leave!!!

    • Mate, just because you see man and woman together as "normal", doesn't mean it's "normal" globally.
For many, it's man and man or woman and woman that is their own "normal".

Hell,I've had family raise their family unit to maturity with a wife, swapping after their wife passed, calling BOTH "normal"!

"Normal" is SUBJECTIVE. To decide what is "normal" for everyone is denying people freedom of choice.

Before you object about anything about me being different from yourself, please note this perspective comes from a straight white male.
