Telstra is currently having issues with its internet service across Australia, with a number of users on the NBN and other home internet services reporting their services as being down.
The good news is that it appears to be a DNS issue, so if you’re savvy enough, you can definitely fix it quite easily. You either need to go to the internet settings on the device you’re trying to use or your router’s settings and manually change your DNS.
You need to change your DNS and the most reliable ones are either Google or CloudFlare (this can be a good thing to do to speed up things like the Play Station Network in general). Here’s a guide on how to change it on your gaming consoles.
Google DNS
Preferred: 8.8.8.8
Alternate: 8.8.4.4
CLOUDFLARE DNS
Preferred: 1.1.1.1
Alternate: 1.0.0.1
Telstra has identified the issue as a DNS issue that is being caused by a cyber attack.
? Update: We've identified the issue and are working on it. Some of our Domain Name Servers (DNS) used to route your traffic online are experiencing a cyber attack, known as a Denial of Service (DoS). Your info isn't at risk. We're doing all we can to get you back online.
