Playdate

The Ridiculously Cute Playdate Now Has A Release Window And Its Launch Titles

Panic has announced that the upcoming portable handheld Playdate will be available to pre-order for $179 USD (roughly $231 AUD). This will include the console, a USB-C cable and the 24 season 1 games that will launch with the console. Pre-orders will remain open but obviously the sooner you get a pre-order in, the sooner you will get your device. The device is set to launch sometime between July and the end of the year.

It’s also been announced that Playdate Stereo Dock is on the way. This will charge your Playdate, but it also has a Bluetooth speaker and also acts as a pen holder (and includes a pen).

The cool thin about the Playdate is that not only does it have the traditional buttons that you’d expect from a handheld device, it also has a crank that should make for some really unique gameplay opportunities.,

THE LAUNCH TITLES:

The coolest thing about the Playdate is that two new games will drop every week via Wi-Fi. Everybody who owns a device will get them for free, and theoretically, they should just appear on the device automatically when you wake up.

More titles will come in the future and the team has been really transparent about just how easy games are to create for this device.
