Henry Cavill Has Announced He Won’t Be Returning As Superman

Henry Cavill, who recently found himself replaced by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher television series, has just made the announcement that he’ll also not be returning as Superman in future DC Comics films.

Cavill posted the news on Instagram, saying he’d been handed the bad news by James Gunn and Peter Safran, but that he respects the universe the two are building. He finished by saying, “My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will.”

Given many had assumed that scheduling conflicts with his film career were partially to blame for his Witcher role falling through, it’ll be interesting to see what comes next. Cavill has made something of a name for himself among the gaming and pop culture communities, not just for playing Geralt but also for being a bit of a geek himself. If you’ve ever needed to see an attractive man build a gaming PC from scratch to the sultry tones of Barry White, he’s got you covered.
