The Witcher Season 5 Has Been Confirmed As The Final Season

Hope they've gotten their Hemsworth.

Netflix has announced that not only is the fourth season of The Witcher in production, but a fifth season is already planned – and it’ll be the show’s last.

“It’s official, The Witcher season 4 is in production,” the official account for The Witcher wrote on social media. “But that’s not all, we’re already planning season 5, which will be the final season and bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion. See you on The Continent.”

The fourth and fifth seasons will supposedly cover the three remaining volumes of the books by Andrzej Sapkowski – Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. And as we know, the role of Geralt of Rivia will now be played by Liam Hemsworth, who’s taking over the lead from Henry Cavill.

“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich says in a Netflix blog post. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”

On top of the live action show, Netflix has also got a new animated series in the works, titled The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. While that’s exciting in and of itself for fans the cherry on top is that Doug Cockle, voice of Geralt in CD Projekt’s video game series based on the property, will be reprising his role for the series. Netflix says that Cockle will be joined by a cast that includes names from the live action The Witcher as well, with the series set to debut this year.
