It looks as though Tomb Raider is the next video game IP to be given the streaming TV treatment, according to a story at The Hollywood Reporter.
The outlet reports that Amazon has begun development on the series with Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who’s recently signed a new multi-year deal with the company, attached to write the script/s as well as executive produce the show.
An Amazon-produced Tomb Raider series certainly falls in line with the recent news that Amazon is publishing the next Tomb Raider game, forming a deal with developer Crystal Dynamics which was acquired last year by Embracer Group along with the Tomb Raider IP.
The new title is confirmed to be a single-player, narrative-drive adventure coming to multiple platforms and continuing on Lara Croft’s story. It’ll contain all of the crucial Tomb Raider elements that fans look for with rewarding exploration, puzzle-solving and combat. It’s being developed using the Unreal Engine 5 and is reportedly the biggest and most expansive Tomb Raider game to date.
