This morning, it has been confirmed that Tomb Raider: Catalyst is now targeting 2028, after originally being revealed and dated for next year. The delay isn’t surprising after Legacy of Atlantis, the Tomb Raider 1 remake, was delayed itself into early next year.
The news came during a chat between Christopher Dring of The Game Business and Amazon’s gaming boss, Jeffrey Gattis, as the topic of Amazon’s games strategy and portfolio came up.
“We’ve obviously announced the two Tomb Raider titles,” said Gattis.
“(Legacy of) Atlantis comes 12th February next year, and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one.”
Unlike Legacy of Atlantis, which is a remake of the original adventure, Tomb Raider: Catalyst is an all-new adventure that plunges Lara Croft into a spot of archaeological intrigue in Northern India.
This obviously means that Tomb Raider: Catalyst will likely no longer have a physical release after PlayStation confirmed it’d no longer produce physical discs beyond the end of next year.
