Masters Of Albion Is A New Game From The Creator Of Fable And Populous

Albi-honest, this looks neat.

This morning saw a brand-new edition of Geoff Keighley’s annual Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, kicking off the massive Gamescom show in Cologne, Germany with a couple of hours of new trailers, updates, world premiere announcements and more.

One especially interesting surprise saw Keighley bring none other than Peter Molyneux onstage to present a new game that’s supposedly been worked on in secret for a number of years – Masters of Albion. The game, set in a world curiously sharing a name with that of the Fable games which Molyneux is responsible for but certainly no longer in charge of, looks to be a mix of RTS village-building and emergent storytelling with more direct action, with players being able to “possess” one of their denizens at any time and play from a third-person POV.

“Build by day, fight by night in an epic story of power and consequence,” reads the game’s official description. “Design, build and customise your world, from the food your people eat to the clothes they wear, the weapons they wield to the homes they live in. Possess characters at will in this unique God Game – Masters of Albion!”
