Kojima Productions has announced that, in addition to the previously announced live-action and animated films, an animated TV series based on Death Stranding is being produced, with an expected release in 2027 on Disney+.

It’s expected to be presented in “traditional, hand-drawn 2D animation” and to follow an entirely new story within the game’s world. It’s expected to explore the story of a yet-to-be-named man and woman in North America.

The show’s synopsis reads: “Somewhere in North America, just as Sam Bridges walks through the continent in order to save America, the someones are also trying to deal with their isolation in their own way.”

Hideo Kojima will serve as the series’ executive producer, while it’ll be helmed by Takayuki Sano. His previous works include Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball Z, and Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was released this year to critical acclaim; however, through endeavours such as the Strands of Harmony world tour, which brought music from the games to a live audience, and the aforementioned films, which are in production, the IP is certainly evolving product-to-product.
