The Zelda: BOTW Limited Edition Is Already Sold Out At EB Games

Roughly 24 hours after going on sale at EB Games, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Limited Edition is already sold out at EB Games. After originally being called the Master Edition and including a special Sheika Slate case, EB Games discreetly downgraded the edition (and left the price) removing the case from our pack.

We’ve been told that at some point, JB Hi-Fi will have the Limited Edition and Nintendo’s own eBay store will have the Limited Edition without the game available. This is due to the fact that the Wii U version of the game is not available in the Limited Edition version.

The Legend of the Zelda: Breath of the Wild launches on both Nintendo Switch and the Wii U on March 3rd.

  • I preordered last night and received a call the following day from EB Games. Needless to say I cancelled my order. $190 is already way too high for this LE (its almost half the cost of the console itself) especially since it doesnt come with the case. The extra $100+ (the game is what $80 tops) is not worth a plastic sword and novelty items that would cost less than $2 in a dollar store.

Nintendo Australia have always charged us a premium. I wouldnt be surprised if the case was available separately down the line for over $100.

  • Preordered immediately once the listing was up via EB Games website.

Later received a call the following day by EB Games that they will not be getting the "Master Edition".

    Asked
to cancel the preorder and refund my money. Was told I would have to go
instore to get my money back. Pretty ridiculous that I need to
physically go to the store to cancel a preorder, when I did it online.

  • Is there any news on when it is expected to be put up for pre-order at JB Hi Fi and whether or not the Limited Edition without the game is available elsewhere? l have a JB Hi Fi voucher but l also have a Nintendo Wii U so l don't plan on picking up the Nintendo Switch anytime soon...

  • Yesterday I purchased from the EB Games Australia web site, the Switch version Zelda Breath of Wild Masters Edition (the receipt acknowledgement from EB was automatically emailed to me showing Master Edition), however this morning when I checked the EB Games website, I saw an interesting thing. When I checked the Zelda Breath of Wild Masters Edition page it looked normal, showing the Masters Edition. I browsed to another page on the EB website, and then when I went to go back to the Masters Edition page, it had changed to instead show the “Limited Edition” instead (and there was no longer any reference to “Master Edition” on the EB website at all). I then looked into my EB games account on that website, and found that my pre-order had also been changed overnight from “Zelda Breath of Wild Master Edition” to “Zelda Breath of Wild Limited Edition” , though price was unchanged at AUD$189.00. So basically what I had bought will be a different product (with less content in it to what I had purchased the day before) to what i will receive…sounds dodgy…hmm. Wonder if that may be a consumer affairs (ACCC) issue…

    • EB Games will happily refund you and cancel the pre-order if you don't want it. ACCC won't do anything, just get a refund if you don't want the limited edition.

    • People are paying $189 for this edition, the least they can do is
include the fricken carry case! This is also the only collector edition Australia seems to be getting, the special edition without the master sword isn't coming here... Does Nintendo seriously want to piss off
Australian gamers even more than what they have with the pricing of the
      Switch?
Also does Nintendo of Australia want me to buy from Australia or overseas? Because it seems more than likely I'm going to be buying the Switch and if I can the Breath of the Wild Special Edition elsewhere, there by giving my money to another countries economy (most likely to whatever country Play Asia is based in).

      • Best Buy in America still has the special editions available. I think it would run 132 Australian. Hope you all can get one

        • lol I might have to do that... hopefully I can find one at a decent shipping price. At the very least Nintendo hasn't region locked the damn console this time.

    • @disqus_ADD5kxq1KR:disqus i had the exact same problem, purchased it when it was advertised with the carrying case, then the next day its not showing the case.

      • Yep. The carry case has been removed. I'm hopefully EB Games will make a statement tomorrow but that edition with the carry case was never advertised as being available in Australia. The press release that Nintendo sent us confirmed that it was without carry case.
