Nintendo Switch and Zelda Are Nintendo’s Most Successful Launches Ever In America

Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed in an interview with the New York Times that both Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have both seen incredibly launches in America.

The Nintendo Switch’s first weekend sales exceeded any other Nintendo console launch in the USA, with the next being the Wii. This is more incredible due to the fact that the Nintendo Wii launched in the holiday period, whilst the Switch launched in March.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most successful launch title of all-time, beating out Super Mario 64.

Fils-Aime also said that it would be hard to gauge comparisons to Wii, but it was a great start with huge games on the way.

      • Not unlikely at all. This is typical for Nintendo, start strong and the fizzle out to nothing. At least you have Zelda and eventually Mario you can play on Switch over and over and over etc.........

        • Yeah and PS4 goers can have Fallout 4 on dual analogues when i got it on my PC at 60FPS and PS4s lower rated Horizon Zero Dawn.

Switch is awesome, already playing it at work (on breaks).
If it sells, it will get all the games anyone can ask
