The Nintendo Switch And Its Games Are Selling Ridiculously Well

Nintendo has today announced in its 4th quarter report that the Nintendo Switch has now sold 17.79 million units in just over a year. This is now way more than the Wii U and more than they’d expected to sell in that timeframe.

If you thought that was impressive, the software sales are absolutely incredible. Super Mario Odyssey has now sold over 10m units, whilst Mario Kart 8 has sold over 9 million units which is a great amount for what’s essentially a port. Kirby has also sold more than a million units, which is great for that franchise.

For reference, the Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 only sold 8.42 million units, meaning the Switch version has already outsold it.

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 9.2m units sold
  • Breath of the Wild – 8.48m units sold
