We often report Nintendo sales numbers from time to time, but the latest report is out of this world. Nintendo has released sales numbers for October-December 2019. The Nintendo Switch has reached 52 million units sold (Switch Lite 5.19 Million units), but it’s the software that is going great guns. You can find the full report HERE, but we’ve put some highlights as well as the top selling games below.
Pokemon Sword/Shield in particular is the big surprise. It has already sold 16.18 million copies in just one and a half months.
For reference, Pokemon X & Y have sold 16.42 million units in its entire time on sale and Pokemon Sun and Moon has only sold 16.17 million units since it went on sale. This means that Sword/Shield have already overtaken Sun and Moon in just a month and a half and has most likely already overtaken X and Y as well. Let’s GO sold 10 million copies in the same timeframe (it’s now reached 11.76 million units).
Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the other surprise hit. It’s sold 5.37 million units in just a couple of months. Super Mario Party has reached 9.12 million units, which makes it even more surprising that it hasn’t received any DLC.
TOP SELLING NINTENDO SWITCH GAMES
It’s safe to say that Nintendo software is the most successful first party software at the moment. It’ll no doubt not be long before we see another Mario Kart title and Breath of the Wild 2 is obviously going to do great numbers as well.
