Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch has now sold 103m units which means that it has overtaken the Nintendo Wii as Nintendo’s best selling console of all time. It also now overtakes the PlayStation 1 which sold 102m units. As far as consoles go, it still has the PS4 (116.6 million) and PlayStation 2 (155 million) in front of it.
The Nintendo Switch selling 103m units is also significant as it’s now the fastest selling console to hit the 100m mark of all time. As far as Nintendo handhelds go, it does have a little bit of catching up to do with the Game Boy/Game Boy Colour collectively selling 118 million units and the Nintendo DS selling 154 million units.
As far as games go, Nintendo has continued killing it in the software front. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl have already reached 14 million units with Metroid Dread having shipped 2.74 million units with Super Mario Party pulling in 5.43 million units in sales. Ring Fit Adventure has now also reached 13.53 million units
