Nintendo has announced the release date for Pokémon Stadium on Nintendo Switch, the next addition to the Switch’s library of Nintendo 64 games.
Like the rest of the N64 library, Pokémon Stadium will be available exclusively for players on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription when it launches on April 12th.
It’s been a while since we first heard of the game coming to Switch, it was originally announced in September last year alongside the likes of Mario Party 3 and, naturally, Pokémon Stadium 2.

Originally released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, Pokémon Stadium lets players duke it out with all 151 of the first generation of Pokémon in a battle arena, as well as play a selection of Pokémon-themed minigames. While the feature hasn’t made it into this Switch release, the original version of the game also allowed players to transfer the Pokémon they’d caught in the Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow games for the Nintendo Game Boy and even play those games on their N64 consoles via emulation.
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service launched in late 2021 and added both Nintendo 64 and SEGA Mega Drive games playable on the Switch. Earlier this year, Nintendo also added Game Boy Advance games to the same subscription tier as well as original Game Boy games to both this and the base Nintendo Switch Online tier. The Nintendo Switch Expansion Pack is available in a 12 month subscription for $59.95 AUD a year for a single user or $109.95 for a Family Membership.

This battle arena game, released for the Nintendo 64 console in 2000, features all 151 Pokémon from the Pokémon Red Version, Pokémon Blue Version, and Pokémon Yellow Version games. In Kids Club, you and three other players can enjoy nine different minigames, like Clefairy Says and Sushi-Go-Round!
