Nintendo Has A Plan To Combat Nintendo Switch 2 Scalpers

Hopefully true.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa spoke to the press for the first time since the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced and he has gone on the record to say that the company has made preparations for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 that should hopefully combat scalpers.

“We will take all possible measures based on the experience we have accumulated to date (regarding scalpers and the like). We are making preparations.” as translated by VGC indicating that the company will put plans in place based on previous experience and also a big allocation of stock.

It’s been well documented that Nintendo has been ramping up Nintendo Switch 2 production for some time to meet demand, but it’ll be interesting to see if it has any other measures up its sleeve for pre-orders, recently holding raffles for the likes of Nintendo Alarmo, Nintendo Switch 2 experience and other experiences in recent times, but that might be hard to coordinate with retailers locally.

Regardless, it does seem that no matter how many Nintendo Switch 2 units Nintendo can produce, it’s likely going to have a hard time keeping up with demand as gamers have been waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2 for years at this point. As for the original Nintendo Switch, it crossed 150 million units sold, catching up to the Nintendo DS and PS2.
