It’s finally here! It’s hard to believe that after the initial reveal, that we’re sitting here about to watch the proper Nintendo Direct dedicated to all things Nintendo Switch 2.
Given that last week’s Direct focusing on the Nintendo Switch was…..interesting….it was exciting to see whether or not Nintendo would continue that trend this week.
The Nintendo Direct lasted for 60 minutes and covered a whole bunch of stuff about the new hardware and, more importantly, the GAMES that we could see when the console launches.
So, without further ado, once more, here are all of the announcements at the first-ever Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.
ALL OF THE NINTENDO SWITCH 2 NINTENDO DIRECT ANNOUNCEMENTS
FROMSOFTWARE ROCKED UP TO SHOW OFF THEIR BRAND NEW GAME AND IT’S EXCLUSIVE
It looks to be very vampire-themed with some Bloodborne elements. It’s called The Duskbloods. It’s out in 2026 and exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2.
THE SHOW CLOSED WITH AN EPIC LOOK AT THE BRAND NEW DONKEY KONG GAME
The game looks to blend 2D and 3D gameplay into an action adventure that is quite simply unlike anything Donkey Kong has ever done before. Also he has some sick ass overalls. It’s called Donkey Kong Bananza and it’s out on the 17th July 2025.
THE SHOW OPENED WITH A LOOK AT THE NEW MARIO KART AND IT’S SWITCH 2 EXCLUSIVE
It looks bigger in practically every aspect, with not just karts but planes, boats, sleds and even wall running. You can even play as a cow. It’s called Mario Kart World and it’s a launch title for Nintendo Switch 2.
WE’RE GETTING A NEW HYRULE WARRIORS GAME
The game takes place during the Imprisoning War, allowing you to play as Zelda amongst many others. It’s called Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and it’s out in the fourth quarter of 2025.
NINTENDO SHOWED US WHAT THE C BUTTON CAN DO AND IT’S KIND OF COOL
While there were some creative theories, it’s just a button for a feature called GameChat. Which finally brings the Switch into online parity with other consoles. Dynamic, I guess. It also let’s you share your feed with other players too, which is a bit cooler. You can even buy a camera to stream yourself over your stream if you want. It’s all there at launch for Switch 2, and you need a NSO membership to use it, though everyone can use it until March 31st 2026.
THE NEW GAMESHARE FEATURE LETS YOU SHARE YOUR GAME (AND SCREEN) WITH OTHER PLAYERS
GameShare lets you temporarily share your screen with other players who don’t own the game. Some older games will get updated, but other Switch 2 exclusive games will get the functionality too.
THE SCREEN OF THE SWITCH 2 WAS PROPERLY DETAILED
The screen of the Switch 2 itself is LCD, supporting HDR and resolutions of 1080p and up to 120fps depending on the game. Can’t wait to get my Switch 2 OLED in three years xoxo. It also comes with 256gb of storage out of the box, and offers 4K support when docked.
A BRAND NEW GAME WAS REVEALED TO SHOW OF THE SWITCH 2 EXPERIENCE
It’s kind of like Astro’s Playroom. Kind of. It’s called Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour and it features a lot of smaller games and experiences that show off the hardware and new Joy-Con. It’s releasing at launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, but is a paid digital-only game.
THE NINTENDO SWITCH 2 GAMES WILL BE RED AND MICROSD CARDS ARE FASTER TOO
I don’t know what else to write. I guess you can also use microSD Express cards to store games digitally on Switch 2. But the microSD cards used on Switch will not be compatible.
THERE’S A NEW PRO CONTROLLER TOO
It has a headphone jack, two programmable buttons on the back and a new slightly different colour scheme.
THE RELEASE DATE WAS REVEALED, AS EXPECTED
The console is launching on June 5th 2025.
SUPER MARIO PARTY JAMBOREE IS GETTING A SWITCH 2 EXCLUSIVE EXPANSION
Super Mario Party Jamboree is getting a Nintendo Switch 2 update. It adds mouses controls, audio recognition minigames and support for the Switch 2 camera too. It’s called Jamboree TV and it’s out on July 24th. It can be bought as a digital upgrade pack if you already own Super Mario Party Jamboree.
BREATH OF THE WILD AND TEARS OF THE KINGDOM ARE GETTING NEW SWITCH 2 EDITIONS TOO
The updates add HDR support, better framerates, a very comprehensive voice guiding system to help find collectibles and the ability to share creations via QR code.
KIRBY AND THE FORGOTTEN LAND IS GETTING A SWITCH 2 EXCLUSIVE EXPANSION AS WELL
The update will improve the resolution and framerate of the game, but the Star-Crossed World will offer players a brand new story to play through.
METROID PRIME 4: BEYOND WILL LAUNCH SIMULTANEOUSLY ON NINTENDO SWITCH 2 AS NINTENDO SWITCH
It features mouse controls with the new Joy-Con too, as well as 4K 60FPS HDR quality mode or a 1080p 120FPS HDR performance mode.
POKEMON LEGENDS Z-A IS ALSO GETTING A NINTENDO SWITCH 2 EDITION
It’ll presumably feature upgraded visuals and better framerates too. Hopefully a Pokemon game gets to break 30fps this upcoming gen.
A BRAND NEW GAME WAS REVEALED USING THE MOUSE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE JOY-CON
The game looks to be a 3v3 sports game in which you can play with other players online. Like Rocket League, but with wheelchairs? It utilizes the new motion sensing capability of the Joy-Con. It’s out before the end of August and is called Drag x Drive.
THIRD PARTY GAMES ARE COMING TO THE SWITCH 2 AS WELL
There’s a few here so let’s quickly recap. Elden Ring is coming to the Switch 2, while Street Fighter 6 is getting both it’s own edition with exclusive modes and amiibo too. Split Fiction, Hitman: World of Assassination and Hogwarts Legacy are also coming as launch titles, while EA confirmed that most of their sports slate will be hitting Switch 2 as well. IO also confirmed that their upcoming Project 007 game would be coming to Switch 2 as well.
A BRAND NEW DAEMON X MACHINA GAME WAS REVEALED
It’s called DAEMON X MACHINA: TITANIC SCION 5th September 2025. It’s not clear if it’s exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 or not.
SQUARE ENIX IS HD REMASTERING BRAVELY DEFAULT FOR LAUNCH
It feels a little bit too soon and I’d rather they work on another game but this is cute. There are brand new minigames included in this HD Remaster. It’s out at launch for the console.
YAKUZA 0 IS GETTING A DIRECTOR’S CUT TOO
It’ll include some new additions from the original release. The developers teased that more games from the Like A Dragon series would be coming to Switch, so look forward to that.
GAMECUBE IS FINALLY COMING TO NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE
It’s exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 with a few titles available at launch. The games included will be The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Soulcalibur II and F-Zero GX. The games will include better image quality and better resolution than the game were originally presented.
THE ENTIRE DELTARUNE SERIES IS COMING TO NINTENDO SWITCH 2
It’s available at launch with the console.
BORDERLANDS 4 AND CIVILISATION VII ARE COMING TO NINTENDO SWITCH 2
Obviously, Civilisation VII will get a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, with new mouse controls. Borderlands 4, you know what to expect, though it’s coming a little later than other platforms.
WWE AND NBA ARE BOTH COMING TO NINTENDO SWITCH 2
Not sure if they’ll be their own versions or other versions made just for Switch 2, but still cool!

WE GOT A NEW LOOK AT A BRAND NEW KIRBY AIR RIDE GAME
Simply put, Kirby got NOS. But don’t get too excited; it’s a sequel to Kirby Air Ride, called Kirby Air Riders, and directed by Masahiro Sakurai. It’s out in 2025.
