Nintendo has today announced that starting from Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, the price of first-party Switch 2 games will differ between digital and physical formats.

Whilst we still don’t have exact Australian pricing, as far as we can tell Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is priced at $94 AUD digitally and physical Switch 2 games have mostly been priced at $110 which would mark a $15-16 saving by buying digitally, but we’ll know once EB Games posts its listing for the game.

In a statement on its website, Nintendo said the below about the price change (which it’s since been clear about does not mean that physical games are getting a price increase):

“Beginning in May 2026, and starting with preorders for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 will have an SRP that is different from physical versions.

Nintendo games offer the same experiences whether in packaged or digital format, and this change simply reflects the different costs associated with producing and distributing each format and offers players more choice in how they can buy and play Nintendo games.

As always, retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, and pricing for each title may vary.”

We’ll keep you posted on what this means for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and other Nintendo Switch 2 games once we have more concrete information.
