After recently pairing up to recreate the epic final battle from Ocarina of Time between Link and Ganondorf, Nintendo and LEGO are seemingly working together again to recreate a Donkey Kong arcade cabinet.
According to the Legoleak subreddit, the set will include just over 1,300 pieces and will be released in August to coincide with the 45th anniversary of the great ape’s arcade debut back in 1981.
As seen above, the set will include the original display with all of its barrel-tossing fun as Jumpman, the original iteration of Mario himself, climbs through girders to rescue Pauline. We’re hopeful that there’ll be a level of interactivity through the controls, which, after the NES, wouldn’t be too surprising.
The set is expected to retail somewhere around USD $200 (~$286 AUD). We’d expect local pricing to land significantly higher than that, though that’ll be available when officially revealed.
