Farming Simulator 22 has seemingly had a cracking launch, topping the Steam charts in its launch week according to Steam sales tracking account SteamDB on Twitter. The game beat out Battlefield 2042, Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2 for the spot, which is impressive enough on its own for what is still a considerably niche title.
Perhaps more interesting though is SteamDB’s reported player count for the game, which saw it overtake Battlefield 2042 in concurrent players in real-time, at its 24-hour peak and in its all-time peak. Not bad for a game where multiplayer is capped at 16 players on PC versus 2042’s mammoth 128-player matches.

Of course this doesn’t take into account the fact that Battlefield 2042’s native platform on PC is Origin, and not Steam, but given Steam’s dominance of the market it’s probably fair to say it’s a good indicator of a game’s overall popularity.
