The New PS5 Ad Is Pure PlayStation Weirdness

The PlayStation ad of the 90s and early 2000s were all about weird and obscure things that often had nothing to do with games, and it looks like Sony is heading back into that direction.

A new ad titled ‘The Edge – Play Has No Limits’ lasts roughly a minute and honestly doesn’t really say anything at all about the PS5 features or games that will be coming to the console. Instead, it’s obviously meant to capture the attention of the viewer and make them question which brand the ad is for.

Speaking to Variety, Head of Marketing Eric Lampel said: “It’s really just talking about who we are as a brand and exciting and thrilling our fans,” Lempel tells Variety. “We want to excite and thrill you. We want to show them a path to the mysterious unknown… what you’re seeing is them coming to the edge and then going beyond. And really, that’s what we’re trying to signal here. It’s not about the features. It’s a brand spot.”

The big PS5 event is taking place later this week. You can find all the Australian times for it HERE.
