Lost Judgment

Yakuza Spin-off Sequel Lost Judgment Has Been Officially Announced And Is Coming Later This Year

After numerous rumours, teases and a last-minute leak on the Japanese PlayStation Store, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have officially lifted the lid on Lost Judgment. The sequel to 2019’s Yakuza franchise spin-off Judgment will continue the story of private detective Takayuki Yagami as he’s pulled into yet another dark and twisted murder mystery along with familiar faces from the first game. Set across both Kamurocho and Ijincho as well as a new high school setting, Yagami and his faithful ex-Yakuza pal, Masaharu Kaito, will need to unravel the truth and decide for themselves what justice truly means.

Lost Judgment will feature expanded traversal, investigation and combat as well as a host of new minigames and features, including dancing, robotics and skateboarding as Yagami goes undercover in a Yokohama high school. You can read about some of the new features in detail along with snippets of our chat with series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi later today.

Of particular note is the fact that Lost Judgment marks the first true simultaneous global launch for RGG Studio as it reaches fans globally with localisation in nine languages all on the same day, September 24, 2021. It’s also releasing across both current and last-generation consoles at the same time, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

If you’ve yet to check out the original Judgment, there’s never been a better time with the game recently coming to both PS5 and Xbox Series X. In our 9/10 review, we called it the “best case yet for Yakuza newcomers”.

We’ll keep you posted as we find out more about Lost Judgment throughout the year in the leadup to release.
