Samsung’s New 980 Pro Heatsink SSD Is The Latest PS5 Ready Drive

Feeling a bit left out from from the PS5 SSD game, Samsung has announced that it’s popular 980 Pro Gen 4 M.2 SSD will come in a heatsink edition later this month.

The internals will be identical to the 980 Pro SSD providing write speeds of 5,100 MB/s and read speeds of 7,000 MB/s but it’ll now come inside of a heat sink that is perfectly compatible with the PS5’s M.2 internal SSD drive.

We’ve reached out to Samsung for local details, but it’s releasing in other parts of the world on October 29th for $249 USD ($339 AUD) for the 1TB version and $449 USD ($611 AUD) for the 2TB version.

We’ll keep you posted when we have concrete local info. Because Samsung is probably producing more of these than the other companies that have already released their respective Gen 4 Heatsink SSDs, hopefully these will come in at a lower price in Australia too.
