The Next Major PlayStation 5 Update Looks To Be Coming In March With Discord Integration And PS5 Game Streaming

According to noted leaker Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming, PlayStation is set to drop its next major PS5 firmware update, version 7.00, in March.

The update will reportedly contain the long-awaited Discord voice integration that has been in the works since 2021, allowing players to join Discord voice channels directly from their console and chat to friends while playing on PS5.

Henderson also reports that the 7.00 update will include cloud streaming of PS5 games for the first time, as part of the PlayStation Plus Premium tier (which presumably rules it out for Australian users).

Beta testing for the update is apparently coming as early as this month, though it won’t feature the incoming Discord support so it’ll be interesting to see what other features, if any, are on the way.

Just yesterday the PS5 received a software update to add support and UI integration for the new DualSense Edge controller, which launches on January 26th.

We went hands-on with the DualSense Edge and came away impressed by what it offers, if a little hesitant on the asking price.

You can still pre-order the DualSense Edge at Amazon for $339 with free shipping.
