Update: These issues look to now be resolved. Many players were having success in working around the issue while it was happening by “forgetting” their network in the PS5/PS4 settings menu and re-connecting, so if you’re finding that the problems are still occurring, that’s definitely something to try.
The PlayStation Network is currently down unexpectedly. PlayStation has not announced any maintenance, planned or unplanned, or addressed the issues many users have been facing this morning.
As of right now, the PlayStation Network System Status page says that everything is running smoothly, but users on Twitter are reporting they’re unable to launch games due to licenses being unable to verify.

Reports of the outage on Down Detector have started rolling in since around 8AM:
