According to Sony’s latest released financial report for its fiscal year ending March 31st, 2023, the PlayStation 5 is still selling in ridiculous amounts.
The console has reportedly moved some 38.4 million units since going on sale in November 2020 and has just posted its strongest January – March quarter yet with approximately 6.3 million console sold, compared to 2 million in the same period the previous year. It’s also been PlayStation’s highest-revenue (fiscal year) Q4 in history, which is mighty impressive, as well as being the most of any console sold in (calendar year) Q1.
You can read the full report here if you’re a nerd for numbers, but the folks at Gematsu have also pointed out a few interesting bits of additional information based on supplementary data:
With hardware supply issues far behind them, it seems Sony’s outlook for the PlayStation 5 continues to be incredibly positive. There are still some huge marquee exclusive titles to come for the console as well, including the likes of Final Fantasy XVI and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
