Saints Row’s First Major Expansion Is Out Now Along With Over 700 Fixes And Changes

It's about family.

Last year’s Saints Row reboot had a bit of an embattled launch, debuting to a lukewarm reception thanks to some admittedly undercooked gameplay systems and quite the laundry list of bugs and other issues. The folks over at Deep Silver Volition have been hard at work every since, releasing numerous updates to make constant improvements to the game.

More recently, a roadmap was released highlighting the team’s plans for the game over the rest of 2023, including its first major paid expansion content, which has dropped today. Titled The Heist and the Hazardous, it’s set in the opulent new district of Sunshine Springs and includes new story missions, cosmetics, rewards, weapons, vehicles and more to use across both the expansion and main campaign.

You can check out the Launch Trailer for the Saints Row: The Heist and the Hazardous expansion below.

Alongside the expansion, the game has also received the first of its three major, free updates. The Sunshine Springs update adds the new district included in the expansion, free for anyone to explore regardless of whether they own the DLC or not. It also comes with a major overhaul to the game’s combat systems, new Photo Mode features, UI improvements, mission changes and more on top of an enormous number of bug fixes and other tweaks. It’s a list of more than 700 changes and additions, so it should hopefully result in a vastly improved game experience for everyone.

If you’re keen to read an encyclopaedia’s worth of information on what’s new and improved in the big Sunshine Springs update, you can head here. Normally I’d copy it all across so you can read it on this page, but it’s so vast and enormous I fear my clipboard would implode.

If you’re yet to dive into Saints Row and this has got you keen to give it a go, Amazon currently has the Notorious Edition which includes the expansion pass for just $48 on PS5.
